Great Lent: Day 24

“Then you and the elders are to go to the king of Egypt and say to him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the Lord our God.’ But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you” – Exodus 3:18-19

What a profound display of respect of the omnipotent and all-powerful Creator towards human free will. What an amazing manifestation of divine hope that humanity can choose to embrace and do what is right and good. God knows very well that the king of Egypt is not going to accept the offer, yet He offers him a choice. God knows that the king will deny doing what is right, yet there is a hope that he might change and embrace life and light rather than death and destruction.

Our decisions and choices in life might or might not reflect the divine will and plan, but He tirelessly works through the events of our lives, continuously extending a choice and opportunities for us to turn to him, recognize his voice and embrace his will and plan for our lives.
