Obituary: Ruth Lucy Kevorkian

Ruth Lucy Kevorkian, of Simsbury and Granby, CT, departed this life on January 1, 2024. She was born in Hartford, CT to the late Avedis and Alma Mooshegian. Ruth was pre-deceased by her late husband, A. John Kevorkian in August 1990. She is survived by 5 daughters: Karen Buckland, Windsor Locks, CT, JoAnn Hughes, Granby, CT, Elaine Kevorkian, Salem, OR, Lauren Watson (and husband Richard) South Windsor, CT, and Armen Kevorkian, Farmington, CT, plus relatives and friends, too numerous to mention. Ruth graduated from New Britain High School. She worked for many years in the secretarial field.  Her love and dedication to her family and to St. George Armenian Apostolic Church are eminent. Ruth’s dedications included Church fundraisers, Women’s Guild, teaching Sunday school, and cherishing one-on-ones with her daughters. She was an ardent movie lover, meeting several movie stars in person, who came to know her by name.  An active member of Eastern Star for over 10 years, she served as Officer, Grand Representative, and Worthy Matron (1983 to 84). Ruth enjoyed flying with her husband in their airplane, traveling abroad, experiencing other cultures and foods, and was philanthropic towards global and human causes.  She will be sorely missed by all.

Calling hours will occur on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 10:40 AM, at St. George Armenian Church, 22 White Street, Hartford, CT, followed immediately by a funeral service at the same location, with interment services at nearby Cedar Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. George Armenian Apostolic Church, 22 White Street, Hartford, CT 06114.

May God rest the souls of the departed and comfort the members of their families.
