Made from 100% old vine Areni, ARAG is fermented in clay amphora, racked and aged an additional 8 months in amphora.
Tasted after the Davit, the ARAG has darker fruit tones and more pronounced herbal notes on the nose. On the palate this medium bodied wine is quite rich and layered. Over time more floral elements emerge as do cherry and pomegranate flavors. A rich, complex Areni that shows how ancient winemaking methods can be deployed to make a delicious modern wine.
This wine won a Gold Medal at the 2020 Mundus Vini Wine International Competition in Germany.
In this first vintage, using the same plot of old vines, winemaker Federico Renzi has made two very different wines, each showing the greatness of the Areni grape!
