Obituary: Robert Mirzoian

Robert “Robik” Mirzoian of West Hartford, Connecticut, passed away on February 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on March 11, 1953, in Baku, Azerbaijan, Robert was the son of Sokrat and Maria Mirzoian, who were from Artsakh, Armenia. Raised with humble beginnings, he was the second of four brothers. Determined to build a better future for his family, Robert and his wife, Nvart, immigrated to the United States in 1991 on a refugee visa with their three children. He took a brave leap of faith, arriving in a country where he knew no one, did not speak the language, and had only $600 in his pocket. Life was difficult for many years, but Robert and Nvart worked tirelessly—often holding multiple jobs—to provide for their children. Through years of sacrifice and perseverance, they built a new life, put their children through college, and purchased their first home.

Deeply proud of his Armenian heritage, Robert was a devoted member of St. George Armenian Church. He looked forward to Sundays and considered St. George his second home, dedicating many hours to the church and always helping in any way he could.

Robert will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and as a dear friend to many who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Funeral services to honor Robert’s life will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at St. George Armenian Church, 22 White Street, Hartford, Connecticut. Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the church funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at West Meadow Cemetery, 679 Willard Avenue, Newington, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. George Armenian Church.
